DIBS is an evangelical Bible college and seminary which offers Biblical education by extension from a grace-based perspective without tuition or fees. It is home schooling on the college and graduate level. Study is done through large amounts of independent study which have two academic goals: (1) for the student to become well-versed in the Bible as well as familiar with some of the best writings and texts of evangelical writers, and (2) for the student to come to his own well-informed conclusions. The quality of the student's education depends
on several factors: (1) his own abilities, (2) his own
efforts, (3) and the materials he uses in his studies. We have programs at every academic level:
Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral. But DIBS is tough: It is
hard to stay with it (lots of motivation and effort are
required) and it is hard to finish it (you have to master
the material to earn credit for the courses). So if you are
looking for a diploma mill, you'll want to go elsewhere. DIBS does not charge tuition or fees (it is
supported solely through the generosity of students and
friends). However, the cost of textbooks is likely to be
quite a bit higher than elsewhere. DIBS aims to individualize the study of students by allowing them go at their own pace and at their own level, and by helping them to come to their own well-informed conclusions. The best model for understanding how DIBS works is the independent study of home schooling.
